attivo
active
adjective aht-TEE-voh Common
Origin: Latin activus (energetic, practical), from agere (to act)
Also means
busy, lively
Usage Note
Attivo agrees in gender and number: attivo, attiva, attivi, attive. In grammar voce attiva is the 'active voice'. In finance l'attivo (used as a noun) means 'assets' or a surplus balance: l'azienda è in attivo ('the company is in the black'). The opposite is passivo ('passive' or 'liabilities'). Do not confuse with attuale ('current') — a common mix-up for learners.
Examples
"È una persona molto attiva e dinamica."
Natural Translation
She is a very active and dynamic person.
