Catastrofico follows the pattern of adjectives ending in -ico: masculine plural is catastrofici, feminine singular catastrofica, feminine plural catastrofiche. It is used in both literal contexts (natural disasters) and hyperbolic everyday speech: è stato catastrofico can mean anything from 'it was a disaster' to 'it was catastrophically bad.'
