Usage Note
Chiacchiera (often used in the plural le chiacchiere) refers to light, informal conversation or gossip. Fare due chiacchiere ('to have a little chat') is one of the most common Italian idioms. Note the 'ch' is always a hard 'k' sound in Italian, never 'ch' as in English.
Examples
"Facciamo due chiacchiere davanti a un caffè."
Natural Translation
Let's have a quick chat over a coffee.
