Usage Note
Contraddire is an irregular compound of dire (to say) and follows dire's conjugation pattern: contraddico, contraddici, contraddice. The past participle is contraddetto. It takes avere as auxiliary. The reflexive contraddirsi means 'to contradict oneself'. A related noun is contraddizione (contradiction).
