Usage Note
Costiero is the standard adjective for 'coastal' or 'littoral': città costiera (coastal city), navigazione costiera (coastal navigation). It agrees in gender and number: costiero / costiera / costieri / costiere. The noun costa (coast) is its root; do not confuse costiero with costoso (expensive), which shares the same first syllable.
