delicacy

gentleness

Usage Note

Delicatezza means both the quality of being delicate (fragility, fineness) and the careful, considerate manner one uses with sensitive matters: trattare qualcuno con delicatezza (to treat someone gently). It does not primarily mean a food delicacy — for that use prelibatezza or specialità. The plural delicatezze is regular.
