Erigere is a literary or formal verb used mainly for erecting monuments, buildings, or institutions: erigere una statua (to erect a statue). In everyday speech costruire (to build) is preferred. It follows the third-conjugation -ere pattern but has an irregular past participle: eretto. It takes avere as its auxiliary.
