fabbro
blacksmith
noun FAHB-broh Rare
Origin: Latin faber (craftsman, smith)
Usage Note
Fabbro specifically denotes a blacksmith or metalworker who shapes iron — distinct from falegname ('carpenter') and orafo ('goldsmith'). Today fabbro is also commonly used for a locksmith who handles metal doors and locks (fabbro ferraio). The feminine fabbra exists but is rarely used; the profession is almost exclusively associated with men in practice.

Natural Translation
The blacksmith repaired the iron gate.
