Usage Note
Giornalaio is the person who sells newspapers and magazines at a edicola (newsstand kiosk). The feminine is giornalaia. Do not confuse with giornalista ('journalist') — a giornalaio sells newspapers, a giornalista writes them. The plural giornalai follows the regular -aio/-ai pattern.
Examples
"Ho comprato il giornale dal giornalaio sotto casa."
Natural Translation
I bought the newspaper from the newsagent downstairs.
