Gridare means 'to shout or yell', and can be used transitively (gridare aiuto = 'to cry for help') or intransitively (stai gridando! = 'you're shouting!'). It takes avere as its auxiliary. The noun is grido, with an irregular plural: le grida for human cries, i gridi for animal calls.
