Usage Note
Guantaio is a traditional craft term for a maker or seller of gloves (guanti). Like many Italian artisan trade names ending in -aio, it is formed from the product noun: guanto + -aio. The feminine form is guantaia. The trade is now largely historical; modern glove retail uses negozio di guanti.
