Incontrollabile is invariable for gender — un impulso incontrollabile (m) and una rabbia incontrollabile (f) both use the same form. It means something that cannot be restrained or managed. The prefix in- signals negation, and the root is controllare (to control). The adverb is incontrollabilmente. In journalistic Italian it frequently describes crises, fires, or emotional outbursts.
