indicare
to indicate
verb een-dee-KAH-reh Common
Origin: Latin indicare, 'to point out, declare'
Also means
to point to, to show
Usage Note
Indicare means to point at something physically (indicare con il dito, to point with a finger) and to indicate/suggest in a broader sense (i dati indicano che..., the data indicate that...). It uses avere as auxiliary and follows the regular -are conjugation. Note the spelling: indicare retains the hard 'c' before -a/-o endings but shifts: indico, indichi, indica.
