Intercettato is the past participle of intercettare (to intercept, to wiretap), used as an adjective. In Italian journalism and legal contexts le telefonate intercettate (intercepted phone calls) and gli intercettati (those whose calls were tapped) are common phrases in coverage of criminal investigations.
