Usage Note

Inventore is the masculine form; the feminine is inventrice. It refers to someone who creates or devises something new, and is used both in historical contexts (l'inventore della stampa — the inventor of the printing press) and modern ones. The plural is inventori. Do not confuse with inventario (inventory).
