lattina

can

noun laht-TEE-nah Rare

Also means

tin

Usage Note

Lattina refers specifically to a drink can (aluminium or steel) — una lattina di birra/cola. It is feminine and its plural is regular (lattine). Do not confuse it with latta (sheet metal or a metal tin/canister), which is more general. In northern Italy lattina is the standard term for a beverage can; in some southern dialects barattolo (jar/tin) is used more broadly.

Examples

"Ho comprato una lattina di aranciata."

Natural Translation

I bought a can of orange soda.
