Luccicante is the present participle of luccicare ('to glitter, to twinkle'), used as an adjective. It describes surfaces that reflect light with small, rapid flashes — water, sequins, eyes (occhi luccicanti, 'glistening eyes'). It is more vivid and dynamic than lucido ('shiny, polished'), which implies a steady gleam. Both genders share the same form; the plural is luccicanti.
