Meccanica (feminine, singular) refers to the branch of physics and engineering dealing with motion and forces, or to the mechanical workings of something (la meccanica del gioco, 'the mechanics of the game'). As an adjective the feminine form meccanica modifies a feminine noun (ingegneria meccanica, mechanical engineering). The masculine adjective is meccanico, which is also the noun for 'mechanic'.
