Usage Note
Messaggero has a feminine form messaggera, though it is less common. In a historical or literary context it means a herald or envoy; in modern use it can mean a delivery courier (servizio messaggero). Note that Messaggero (capital M) is also the name of a major Italian newspaper, Il Messaggero. Do not confuse with messaggio (a message, the text itself).
Examples
"Il messaggero ha consegnato la lettera di notte."
Natural Translation
The messenger delivered the letter at night.
