pescare

to fish

verb peh-SKAH-reh Rare

Also means

to draw out

Usage Note

Pescare takes avere as its auxiliary: ho pescato un pesce (I caught a fish). Colloquially it also means to find or retrieve something unexpectedly — dove l'hai pescato? (where did you dig that up?). Do not confuse the noun il pesce (fish) with pescare (to fish).

Examples

"Andiamo a pescare nel fiume domani."

Natural Translation

We are going fishing in the river tomorrow.
