Posa covers a bodily pose or posture (mettersi in posa, to strike a pose), a long photographic exposure, and — figuratively — affected or pretentious behavior: fare la posa ('to put on an act'). The related verb posare means both 'to set down/place' and 'to pose for a portrait or photo'. The plural pose is regular.
