Usage Note
Preferibile is usually followed by a (compared to) or a subordinate clause with che + subjunctive: è preferibile che tu venga ('it is preferable that you come'). It is more formal and evaluative than the verb preferire, which expresses personal taste directly. The adverb form is preferibilmente ('preferably').
