Usage Note

Puntino is the diminutive of punto (dot, point). The phrase a puntino means 'perfectly' or 'to a T': la bistecca era cotta a puntino ('the steak was cooked to perfection'). The plural puntini also refers to ellipsis dots (puntini di sospensione) in writing.
