Realismo is used both in philosophy and aesthetics (the 19th-century literary and artistic movement) and in everyday speech to mean 'pragmatism' or 'clear-eyed thinking.' Realismo magico (magical realism) is the literary term borrowed from Latin American literature. The related adjective is realistico and the noun for a person is realista.
