Rinunzia (also spelled rinuncia) is the formal or legal act of giving something up — la rinunzia all'eredità (waiver of inheritance), la rinunzia al trono (abdication). In everyday speech rinuncia is more common; rinunzia is preferred in legal and official writing. Plural: rinunzie / rinunce. The verb is rinunciare.
