Spasso is most commonly used in the fixed expression che spasso! ('what fun!') and andare a spasso ('to go for a stroll / to goof around'). The phrase mandare qualcuno a spasso informally means 'to fire someone' or 'to send someone packing'. It is informal in register; divertimento is the neutral equivalent.
