Usage Note

Stagnino is a traditional artisan term for a worker in tin (stagno) — historically a tinsmith who made or repaired tin vessels; in some regional varieties of Italian it also covers basic plumbing work. Like guantaio, it is a -ino diminutive trade suffix. The trade is mostly historical; modern Italian uses idraulico for plumber.
