Origin: From Latin testis (witness).

Usage Note

Teste is an archaic or legal synonym for testimone (witness). It is masculine: il teste, i testi. In modern Italian it survives mainly in court reporting and legal documents; everyday speech uses testimone instead. Do not confuse with testa (head) or teste as an irregular plural of testo in some usages.
