Umanistico relates to the umanesimo (Humanism) of the Italian Renaissance, or more broadly to the humanities (discipline umanistiche) as opposed to scientific subjects (discipline scientifiche). In Italian education, a liceo classico is considered the quintessential percorso umanistico.
