Usage Note
Sbarazzare is transitive and means to clear or rid a space of clutter. The reflexive sbarazzarsi di is very common and means to get rid of something or someone: si è sbarazzato di quei libri vecchi — he got rid of those old books. It takes avere in non-reflexive compound tenses.
