Abbraccio is derived from the verb abbracciare ('to hug'). In informal written closings — emails, messages between friends — Un abbraccio or Un caro abbraccio is a warm sign-off equivalent to 'Hugs'. The plural abbracci drops the final vowel's -o → -i regularly. It is masculine: un abbraccio forte ('a tight hug').
