Abbuffare is almost always used reflexively as abbuffarsimi sono abbuffato di pizza (I stuffed myself with pizza). The transitive abbuffare qualcuno (to stuff someone) is rare. It takes essere in compound tenses when reflexive. The related noun is abbuffata (a binge, a blowout meal), very common in informal speech.
