Also means
to gorge
Usage Note
Abbuffare is almost always used reflexively as abbuffarsi — mi sono abbuffato di pizza (I stuffed myself with pizza). The transitive abbuffare qualcuno (to stuff someone) is rare. It takes essere in compound tenses when reflexive. The related noun is abbuffata (a binge, a blowout meal), very common in informal speech.
Examples
"Mi sono abbuffato di dolci a Natale."
Natural Translation
I stuffed myself with sweets at Christmas.
Literal Translation
Myself I-am stuffed of sweets at Christmas.
