Usage Note

Accavallare takes avere (ha accavallato le gambe). Its most common use is accavallare le gambe (to cross one's legs). The reflexive accavallarsi means 'to pile up' or 'to overlap' (gli impegni si accavallano = commitments pile up). It is not to be confused with incrociare (to cross paths or cross one's arms).
