Usage Note
Allevamento refers to the raising of animals, both as the practice (allevamento di bovini — cattle farming) and the physical establishment (a farm or ranch). It derives from allevare ('to raise, to breed'). Allevamento intensivo is 'intensive farming'. Do not confuse with coltivazione, which refers to growing crops.
