Altissimo is the absolute superlative of alto (tall/high), formed with the suffix -issimo. It means 'extremely tall' or 'very high'. In religious contexts l'Altissimo (capitalised) means 'the Most High', a name for God. The feminine is altissima, plural altissimi/altissime.
