Usage Note

Appassionare means to excite a strong interest or passion in someone. It is commonly used reflexively: mi appassiona la musica (music captivates me) or si è appassionato al calcio (he became passionate about football). The reflexive takes essere as auxiliary; the transitive takes avere. Appassionato (adjective/past participle) means passionate or enthusiastic.
