Apprendista is an epicene noun — the same form is used for both men and women, distinguished only by the article: l'apprendista (m/f). The plural is gli apprendisti / le apprendiste. In Italian labour law, contratto di apprendistato is a formal apprenticeship contract with specific age and duration rules, distinct from a simple internship (tirocinio).
