Usage Note

Armare means to provide with weapons (armare le truppe) or, more broadly, to fit out a ship (armare una nave). The reflexive armarsi means to arm oneself. Un armato is an armed person; disarmare is the antonym. Do not confuse with allarmare (to alarm/worry someone).
