Avvio is the noun form of avviare ('to start'). It is common in business and technology: dare avvio a ('to launch/kick off'), l'avvio di un progetto ('the launch of a project'). In computing, schermata di avvio is the start-up screen. Do not confuse with avvicinamento (approach) or avventura (adventure).
