Usage Note

Bagnare covers wetting something (rain wetting you), watering plants, and bathing a body part. The reflexive bagnarsi means 'to get wet' or 'to bathe.' A common idiom: bagnarsi fino alle ossa ('to get soaked to the bone'). It takes avere as auxiliary in transitive use; bagnarsi uses essere.
