Usage Note
Bella is the feminine singular form of bello. Before a masculine noun starting with a vowel or most consonants, bello becomes bel (un bel ragazzo); before s + consonant, z, gn, ps it becomes bello (un bello spettacolo). Bella! as a standalone exclamation means 'great!' or 'nice one!' in colloquial speech.
