ben

well

adverb ben Rare

Also means

quite; fully

Usage Note

Ben is the elided form of bene (well) used before consonants and in fixed expressions: ben fatto (well done), ben noto (well known), ben presto (very soon). It is common in written Italian and formal speech. Unlike bene, ben cannot stand alone as an answer ('good!') — for that you always use the full form bene.

Examples

"È un problema ben noto agli esperti."

Natural Translation

It is a well-known problem to experts.
