Usage Note

Briciola is primarily a bread crumb or any tiny fragment of food. Figuratively it can mean a scrap or trace of something: non c'è una briciola di verità ('there is not a crumb of truth'). The regular plural is le briciole. Do not confuse with bricciola, a rare variant spelling.
