Centrare means both to physically centre something and to hit a target precisely: centrare il bersaglio (to hit the target). Figuratively, centrare il problema means 'to get to the heart of the problem'. The negation non c'entra (it has nothing to do with it) is an extremely common fixed phrase, from c'entrare (to have to do with).
