centrare

to centre

verb chen-TRAH-reh Rare

Also means

to hit the target

Usage Note

Centrare means both to physically centre something and to hit a target precisely: centrare il bersaglio (to hit the target). Figuratively, centrare il problema means 'to get to the heart of the problem'. The negation non c'entra (it has nothing to do with it) is an extremely common fixed phrase, from c'entrare (to have to do with).

Examples

"Ha centrato il bersaglio al primo colpo."

Natural Translation

She hit the target on the first shot.
