Usage Note
Cetriolo is a false friend trap for English speakers: it looks related to 'citrus' but means cucumber. The plural i cetrioli is regular. In colloquial Italian cetriolo can also be a mild insult for a dull or stupid person.
Examples
"Ha tagliato un cetriolo per l'insalata."
Natural Translation
She sliced a cucumber for the salad.
