Usage Note

Compagnia means both a business company (compagnia aerea = 'airline') and the state of having company (tenere compagnia = 'to keep company'). It also refers to a theatrical troupe (compagnia teatrale). Do not confuse with azienda (a more neutral business term) or società (broader for company/society). In compagnia di means 'in the company of'.
