Usage Note
Complottista derives from complotto ('plot, conspiracy') and is used dismissively or neutrally to describe someone who believes in or promotes conspiracy theories. It is both masculine and feminine in form — il/la complottista — with plural i/le complottisti/e. The term gained wide currency in Italian media discourse around 2020.
