adjective kom-POH-zee-toh Rare

Origin: From Latin 'compositus', past participle of 'componere' (to put together).

Also means

mixed

Usage Note

Composito describes something made up of heterogeneous or varied elements — a composite material, a mixed coalition, or a motley group. Un'alleanza composita is a broad, varied coalition. In architecture and classical orders, the Composite order (ordine composito) combines Ionic and Corinthian capitals. It is slightly more formal than misto.
