condotta

conduct; behaviour

noun kon-DOT-tah Less Common

pipeline; duct

Usage Note

Condotta has two distinct registers: in formal/ethical contexts it means 'conduct, behaviour' (condotta morale); in engineering it means a pipe or conduit (condotta idrica — 'water pipe'). In Italian schools, il voto di condotta is the grade for behaviour. Do not confuse with conduzione (management/operation).
