Usage Note
Consumismo is the Italian term for the ideology or culture of excessive consumption. Like most -ismo nouns it is masculine. The related adjective is consumistico, and the noun for a consumerist person is consumista (invariable for gender in the singular). It carries a generally critical connotation in Italian discourse.
